Calibration of laboratory glassware

High-quality laboratory glass is subject to strict testing standards and must meet the highest level of accuracy so that smooth, professional laboratory operations can be guaranteed. So far volumetric flasks, measuring cylinders, pipettes and burettes are individually calibrated after manufacture using a slow and error-prone process in order to be able to precisely mark the nominal volume. For this purpose, the volumetric glassware is filled with the exact amount of distilled water under precisely defined conditions and the meniscus of the liquid level in the volumetric flask is read and marked.

Calibrating volumetric flasks, measuring cylinders, pipettes and burettes

The devices AQUAJUST® CAM and AUTOJUST® CAM were developed by the Center of Device Development CeDeD of the Fraunhofer ISC, in order to be able to carry out this process semi-automatically and time-saving. With the devices adapted to customer requirements, it is now possible to calibrate the laboratory glasses with repeated accuracy at highest precision (automatic meniscus detection) which optimizes the quality control within the production process. In addition, it is no longer necessary to use experienced and specially qualified personnel for the calibration.
